Course Overview/Description:

A flow chart that details the employee training process.

Objectives:

1.0 Purpose:
The purpose of this procedure is to document the employee training process, provide instruction, and affirm responsibility for planning and implementing employee training. In addition, determine employee training needs, provide targeted training, and maintain training records.

2.0 Scope:
This policy applies to all training and development activities for the organization. Training is focused on strategic needs for the future, current business needs, and individual employee training requirements.

3.0 Responsibilities:
Training and development responsibilities are shared. Each individual is responsible for his or her training and career development. Team leaders or supervisors are responsible for coordinating focused training, external training, and on-the-job training for employees. The Human Resources department is responsible for providing on-site training, coordinating external training, and managing the training database. Company management is responsible for identifying training and organizational skills necessary to achieve business objectives.

4.0 Definitions:
Training - Employee development and learning

Internal Training- courses offered on-site for a group of Company employees, course descriptions are in the employee training records database.

External Training - Colleges, training institutions, training vendors, off-site training.

5.0 Procedure:
The following flowchart explains the employee training and development process (responsibilities are in parenthesis):

Note 1: Business Needs Assessment - A review of the organizational skills needed to accomplish business objectives.

Note 2: Employee appraisal process - Employee development is part of the appraisal process. Training needs, career goals, and potential developmental assignments are reviewed between supervisor and employee.
